Chronicle House
Originally occupied by the Chester Chronicle Newspaper, this £2m project extended and converted the building into residential flats by developer Beaumont Morgan Ltd.
The final solution included the replacement of heavy precast concrete floors at Level 2 in order that two more lightweight floors could be added around an extended steel frame.
In order to facilitate the addition of extra floors and limit foundation works in an archaeological
sensitive area, Jameson Consulting had to survey, analyse and assess the existing building structure.
The building was stiffened with the addition of concrete shear walls and vertical bracing to provide adequate structural stability to the new building outline.
